Mitchella Gilbert is a startup founder, innovator, and creative visionary. As the CEO and Founder of Oya Femtech Apparel, a groundbreaking technical apparel brand addressing feminine health issues, Mitchella quickly grew Oya into a 2023 Fast Company Innovative Company Of The Year.

Mitchella's distinction as one of the first 200 black women to secure over $1,000,000 in venture capital speaks volumes about their impact and credibility in the business world. Their commitment to innovation and women's health has not gone unnoticed, earning them prestigious accolades like the John Wooden International Leadership Award and, most recently, the honor of serving as a 2024 diplomatic delegate to Japan on behalf of the City of Los Angeles.

Oya Femtech Apparel

  • Created an award-winning sportswear startup, achieving recognition for innovation within the industry by Forbes, Essence, Sports Business Journal, Techstars, SVB, etc.

  • One the first 200 black women worldwide to secure +$1,000,000 in funding, showcasing exceptional leadership and drive

  • Successfully navigated supply chain challenges posed by COVID, strategically developing resilient and efficient sourcing strategies to ensure uninterrupted product availability, resulting in $30K of sales in the first 6M with $0 in advertising

  • Engineered patented product that revolutionizes the sportswear market, demonstrating a keen eye for innovation and the ability to bring groundbreaking concepts to life

2019 - 2022

  • Grew $97K into a >$440K portfolio of single-family and multi-family real estate and IRA Roth account; 4yr IRR of +30% and generating 10% ROA YOY on RE holdings

  • Conducting due diligence, modeling and forecasting, evaluated 50+ investments sourced from public databases and network

2015 - 2019

Deloitte

  • Established roadmap to scale and expand the scope of Deloitte’s $5M Diversity and Inclusion practice through partnerships with tech vendors; created investment thesis, conducted due diligence, forecasted P&L, built team to evaluate 15 potential partnerships

  • Led $730K technical transformation project as the change management lead; set the client’s change management strategy, communications strategy and deliverable release calendar, resulting in the client building its first change management team

  • Presented project performance updates, initiated ongoing reviews of special projects, and facilitated execution of organization’s change management strategies through regular meetings with C-suite executives, impacting companies with 10-170K employees

  • Received ~10 performance awards, including a Peach Star Award from the state of Georgia, for exemplary performance on self- sourced initiatives as well as strong project management skills

2015 - 2019

Teach For America

  • Established and mentored robotics team of 30 students and 15 sponsors (including NASA and Google); raised and managed a $60K budget; advanced to State Championships, among the 5% of Detroit teams who qualified

  • Instructed 220 students, improving my organizational and leadership skills as well as student economic analysis skills by ~150% and writing skills by two grade levels within an academic year according to Common Core standards
